CAN Prevent Diabetes
I volunteered for the Diabetes Prevention
& Control Program in the Northern Marianas Islands by creating
this newspaper ad. The ad is still in circulation today.
According to the program director, their angle
on diabetes prevention was modeled after Hawaii’s, “You
can’t force them to change what they eat” approach.
Thus, we decided on this message for the targeted audience.
In terms of design, I am a believer of the “white
space.” Less is definitely more when trying to stand out
in print absorbed publications.
I kept the message concise, and used language
that would appeal to the target audience.
